Port Douglas Carnivale festival produced by the local community celebrates everything wonderful about Tropical North Australia. There's music, arts, sports, cuisine, culture and entertainment - every reason to head for a 'taste of paradise'. For gourmet travellers and lovers of food and wine, the festival commences with a cuisine event weekend and incorporates Sheraton Mirage Longest Lunch; Palates of Port; Food, Wine and A Taste of Port; Seafood Extravaganza and Food Fight. The second weekend focus turns to family favourites the Macrossan Street Parade and Four Mile Beach Fun Day - free events drawing thousands of spectators. Carnivale's festival program of sports will satisfy both players and spectators: tennis, golf tournaments, yacht regatta, outriggers, kite surfing, and a bullride spectacular.
